Suitability

This course is for students who have been learning English for six months or more. They will be able to use a limited range of functional phrases and will be starting to build a small vocabulary in key areas.

Sample ‘can do’ statements

  • I can use numbers in different ways
  • I can describe people's hair and clothes
  • I can name different types of food and drink
  • I can name and describe places in a town
  • I can ask for and give directions

Why choose this course?

The course gives learners an early experience of communicating successfully in English with a native speaker. They will also have the opportunity to use English with other students in a range of games and activities. Participants will quickly come to realise that language learning is about being able to apply knowledge and skills to exchange ideas and information – and that this is possible even with limited linguistic resources.
