This month it’s the turn of Trevor Kelly, our roaming promotions team member and producer of this Newsletter. Here’s your opportunity to find out more about what I do and what I like to do outside of my work life. I took some time to sit down and ask myself a few questions.
What do you do for English in Action?
I am a promotions representative for EiA and I also write the monthly newsletter that you receive.

Can you tell me a bit about your role?
I spend around 15 weeks a year overseas either visiting schools to promote EIA courses or teaching our ‘English in Action for Apprentice Chefs’ gastronomy courses in Switzerland. When I am not overseas, I assist the sales department as and when I’m needed and I write the newsletter that goes out to our contacts list
What did today look like for you?
Today I spent 8 hours in class with a group of 20, second-year apprentice chefs. We spent the morning exploring the world of fish in preparation for a cooking event at the end of the course on Saturday. I then returned to my hotel room to finish off this month’s newsletter before putting in some time to prepare for tomorrow’s classes.
When did you join the company?
I joined the company in January 2010, I think.
What’s the most enjoyable part of your work?
I am lucky enough to have a very diverse range of roles within the company, and what’s more, I get to work remotely from home too. So, flexibility has to be the most enjoyable aspect of the job. I love to travel and relish the freedom of driving from town to town in my promotional role. Teaching though is still in my blood, I did it for nearly 20 years before moving to the other side of the industry. To be able to teach 5 or six times a year reminds me of how much I love being in the classroom. I really do have a great job!
What do you like to do in your free time?
Food! It’s the first thing I think of when wake up and the last thing at night. I love cooking and experimenting with different styles and cuisines. I also play the guitar, which I don’t practice anywhere near as much as I should, I play golf and snooker and I enjoy gardening, I have a vegetable patch that I take great care of. There is nothing like eating homegrown produce. I have a house in Spain that my wife and I love spending as much time as we are able to.
What music are you listening to on Spotify at the moment?
My music taste hasn’t really evolved much in the last 20-30 years. My musical love developed and set in my younger years, so I still listen to mostly the same artists as I did back then. Joni Mitchel, Tom Waits, The Beatles, Jazz, Blues and Rock are some of my favourite listens. I’m a secret fan of old-school hip hop too.
What would your dream job be?
That would have to be a professional golfer! I can’t imagine anything better than travelling the world, following the sun, working outdoors and making millions from playing the most beautiful game. It would also mean I got to enjoy the world’s food too!
What’s your favourite food/drink?
I don’t have a favourite food really as I simply love all kinds of food. However, if were forced to eat only one country’s cuisine for life, it would probably be Greek. It simply ticks all the boxes for me. For drink, I love big, bold, full-bodied red wines and strong black coffee.
